"From Grass Roots to Gold"

Talent Fund 2018/19

The sports council has a primary focus of encouraging interest and participation of sport across the shire.

We are looking for more local companies to contribute £500 to increase the Aberdeenshire Sports Council Talent Fund for young people (21) and under.

Your company's sponsorship will offer you a unique association with a talented youngster who may well become a sporting star of the future already being at Scottish International level with some on the Great Britain Development Pathway.

Endorsement Support from Olympic Gold Medalists

  1. Tim Baillie MBE from Westhill was a successful recipient of funding from Aberdeenshire Sports Council over 20 years ago showing that the work we do with young athletes from across Aberdeenshire has the potential to help create future Olympic Champions.

  2. Katherine Grainger CBE Rio 2016 Silver Medallist and 2012 Olympic Champion commented at the 2014 Awards Evening; "To the Sports Council; Congratulations to all on the fantastic work you do encouraging, supporting and celebrating sport. Keep up the good work, Katherine."

Aberdeenshire Sports Council has supported many talented young athletes over the last 20 years. Over the past few years there has been an increase in the number of these young athletes competing at the national and international level and we feel the time is right to seek additional external funding to help lighten the financial burden on these talented sports people.

We have a positive association with a number of businesses and know that the benefits to the local business community of being associated with sport and talented individuals can be substantial offering great kudos as well as good promotion of the company to the larger community.
