Euan Thoirs Disability Sport Award Winner

*Sponsored by William Lippe Architects Inverurie Name: Euan Thoirs (Longside) – Wheelchair Basketball In September 2015 Euan started playing with Grampian Flyers Wheelchair team joining the adult team to learn and play the game. After a few months, in 2016 he attended trials for the U15 Scotland Squad. Euan was selected for Scotland and played tournaments in England against the best upcoming players from around the UK. Euan required better equipment to be able to play at his best and managed to fundraise £4,000 to buy himself an elite sports chair. Euan is a valued member of the Wheelchair Team, helping the team achieve victory in the Scottish Development Wheelchair Basketball League. Michelle Gordon Young Female Award Joint Winner

Michelle has had an amazing year competing in highland dance. She is an extremely dedicated and hard working young lady who attends classes 3 times a week and also trains herself at home. Carla Banks Young Female Award Joint Winner

Carla has had an exceptional season with both her indoor and outdoor bowling. Amongst her many successes she won gold at the British Isles U18 series followed by becoming runner up in the World U25 ladies singles. Carla was also part of the Scottish ladies 25 team who won at the British Isles series. Carla has been selected for the Scottish senior ladies team for the first time and will also represent Scotland in the forthcoming British Isles series. To top off her season she has just been selected for the Scotland high performance squad and is 1 of 8 ladies hoping to play at the Commonwealth games next year. Jackie Lockhart Sports Personality of the Year

Current level of involvement: International-*Ladies Scottish and World Senior Curling Champion 2016 Sports Person Jackie Lockhart Curling. The Men’s and Women’s Finals of the Go Coco Scottish Curling Senior Championships took place at a packed Lanarkshire Ice Rink on Sunday 28th February 2016. The winners were Team Lockhart (Jackie Lockhart – skip, Christine Cannon, Isobel Hannen, Margaret Richardson) taking the 2016 Scottish Curling Senior Women’s Championship title. The team went on to represent Scotland at the World Senior Curling Championships in Karstad, Sweden, 16th – 23rd April 2016.
