Deveron Coastal Rowing Club of the Year Winners

*Sponsored by GPH Builders Merchants and presented by Gill Macaulay Name: Deveron Coastal Rowing Club (Banff) – Coastal Rowing Club launched March/2016 with the aim to encourage younger rowers into Coastal Rowing. Our younger rowers have been the driving-force to promote Coastal rowing. Club has developed into one of the strongest/largest youth teams in Scotland. In the short amount of time the club has been formed, the younger rowers have achieved so much. This was a completely new sport for them and they have grasped every aspect of what it means to be part of a club. They not only compete, they keep this club running and most importantly have created a strong community presence *Silver medal in U17 women competing in the Skiffie World Championships *Bronze medal in U19 women competed in the Skiffie World Championships *2nd and 3rd places in the Avoch Regatta *Numerous medal placings in Fresh water sprints at Loch Tummel and winning the overall trophy for the event.
Banchory Trampoline Club Team of the Year Winner

Club/Team Name Banchory Trampoline & DMT Club – Trampoline Banchory trampoline and double mini trampoline (DMT) had their best ever year of competition last year. Seven members were selected to compete for Scotland at regional team finals, helping Scotland place second in trampoline and win overall on DMT. Six members qualified for the national development plan finals at a British event, four members medalled at each event in the spring series whilst two members qualified for British championships Current level of involvement *2 British champions (Elite 17/18 and NDP3) for double mini trampoline *Northern Trampoline league team winners *Gold and silver at British championships *14 gold, 9 silver, 4 bronze at Scottish championships
Melanie Stewart Wills Coach of the Year Award

*Sponsored by Masson and Glennie Solicitors Peterhead and presented by Cllr Lenny Pirie of Aberdeenshire Council Name: Melanie Stewart Wills (Banchory) Trampoline/DMT Melanie’s successes as a coach have been many but 2016 saw a level achieved by few. Early in the year Melanie succeeded in gaining a ‘High Performance Coach’ award from British gymnastics for trampoline. August saw Melanie and her best performer travel to Dorset and succeed in a double minitramp course at a high performance level. To achieve both in the same year is unheard of. 2016 also saw her top performer win the British Championships in DMT at elite level (17-18yrs), which subsequently led to an invite into the GB squad for DMT. Current level of involvement: *Gaining two High performance coach awards, *Selection as head coach representing Scotland at British level leading Scotland to their first win.
Euan Thoirs Disability Sport Award Winner

*Sponsored by William Lippe Architects Inverurie Name: Euan Thoirs (Longside) – Wheelchair Basketball In September 2015 Euan started playing with Grampian Flyers Wheelchair team joining the adult team to learn and play the game. After a few months, in 2016 he attended trials for the U15 Scotland Squad. Euan was selected for Scotland and played tournaments in England against the best upcoming players from around the UK. Euan required better equipment to be able to play at his best and managed to fundraise £4,000 to buy himself an elite sports chair. Euan is a valued member of the Wheelchair Team, helping the team achieve victory in the Scottish Development Wheelchair Basketball League. Michelle Gordon Young Female Award Joint Winner

Michelle has had an amazing year competing in highland dance. She is an extremely dedicated and hard working young lady who attends classes 3 times a week and also trains herself at home. Michelle is a very humble winner who a lot of younger dancers look up. *European Champion *Champion in City of Aberdeen, West of Scotland, Lanimer, Strathclyde, Tayside, Granite City, North of Scotland *Grampian Highland Games League Junior winner *SOBHD Champion of Champions Oscar Winner
