Kemnay Golf Club Juniors Travel Grant

A grant of £250 was awarded to Kemnay GC to support the travel to the home internationals event at Dalmahoy. Following last year when the boys narrowly missed out on the final by three shots, unfortunately history has repeated itself. Taking the winners score out of things (Murrayfield 367) the semi-final result was very close as regards to qualification, as three shots was the only difference between second and fifth place. The scores on the day were as follows – MURRAYFIELD – 367 NEW CLUB St. ANDREWS – 387 LEVEN THISTLE – 387 WHITECRAIGS – 389 KEMNAY – 390 A big thanks to everyone that gave their help and support.
Committee to Meet 7th December

The next meeting of the Sports Council Executive Committee is on Wednesday the 7th December at 7pm in Meldrum Academy. Planning for the 2017 Awards Evening will be a key part of the Agenda.
Deeside Pony Club Grant Success

6 members of the Deeside Pony Club qualified for the National Championships held in Cheshire in August, and 1 individual qualified for the National Tetrathlon Championships in Yorkshire. Matilda Haley won the Open Dressage to Music competition, and was second in the Elite Dressage competition. The Novice Dressage team of Tara Humphrey, Prue Scott, Catriona Boxall and Julia Lamont were placed 13th out of 34 teams in the competition, with Julia finishing 11th individual in her section. Three members of that team also took part in the Novice Eventing competition, and though un placed, gained valuable experience, their first time at the Championships. Bruce Law, in the Intermediate Dressage competition was well up inhis section, and also took part in the Eventing competition, had good dressage and show jumping scores, but retired in the cross country phase, as he was concerned for his horse. Ben Matthews went to the Tetrathlon Championships , and finished 22nd out of 65 in his class, a very good place for his first time in this large competition. The Tetrathlon competition is made up of precision pistol target shooting, swimming, running and riding a cross country course.

Bennachie Pony Club received a £250 grant to attend the nationals championships.

The award from Aberdeenshire Sports Council to Bennachie Branch of the Pony Club assisted 11 members of our club to travel to the National Pony Club Championships at Cholmondeley Castle in Cheshire, August 2016. They all qualified to attend the championships at our Area Qualifiers in July held in Ross-shire. The National Pony Club Championships had over 2000 competitors and was five days of sporting action at Novice, Intermediate and Open level of Show Jumping, Eventing and Dressage, whilst also hosting Polocrosse, Mounted Games, Equitation and a Musical Ride competition.
