Executive to Meet 13th January 2016

Grant aid Success

Billy Stuart from Macduff recently received a £300 grant from Alan Still Sports Council Chairman. Billy won a silver medal at the Commonwealth Youth Games in Samoa. The committee wish him continued success.

Further Shooting Club Success

The Scottish 50m Championships held in Aberdeen at the weekend would again see Huntly well represented with 4 competitors competing against shooters from all over the UK, many of them International and commonwealth shooters. Brogan was to keep everyone on his toes on Sunday where he was competing in his first ISSF 3 position competition. Making it into the final and holding 3rd position all the way through, the comp came down to single shots at standing with 50 seconds to take each shot. Down to just three shooters taking the shot to determine 3rd place Brogan had the crowd holding there breath as they watched the clock tick. He finally took the shot with 0.5 seconds left resulting in a huge release of breath and laughter from the crowd. He went on to receive Gold for overall junior, silver for confined and bronze overall. The club coach Sheena Sharp was also in the medals in the Woman's championship.
Huntly Shooting Club's Successes

Two members of Huntly Small-bore Rifle Club Jackie and Brogan Smith are this week enjoying a little time out after a string of success at the NSRA Scottish Open meeting held recently at Thirlestane Castle in Lauder. The week long event sees around 200 competitors from all over the UK take part with many of the competitions classed (X, A, B, C, D). The main competitions of the week would be the Championship Aggregate, The Freuchie (an elimination shoot run by the SSRA) and of course The Haig which is the Scottish Open title. The prize giving at the end of the week seen the pair pick up 10 cups. Amongst Brogans winnings he picked up two cups for U18 and overall Junior, both of which he won last year Brogan (15) also picked up the Junior cup for the Haig. Jackie picked up the cup for winning C-class overall in the Championship aggregate against 23 other competitors. Jackie also picked up the winning Sgean dhu in the Freuchie for C/D after making a name for herself by taking out two X-class shooters on her way to the semis and went on to win the Haig Quiach at the end of the week for B,C,D class. Huntly was very well represented with another four shooters winning gold, silver and bronze medals throughout the week.
