Aboyne Canoe Club Coaching Success

Increasing the number of qualified leaders in the Aboyne Canoe Club will allow us to safely get more club members out on the river at any given time and allow us to offer a greater number of trips. Training young leaders such as Amelia and Jessica is also a great incentive to the younger up and coming paddlers in the club who can see a clear development path for themselves. Going forward we aim to maintain the momentum by encouraging our young members to develop their personal paddling skills and become coaches for the club
Aboyne Canoe Club £160 Coaching Grant

During the weekend of 27-28th August 2016 four members of the Aboyne Canoe Club, undertook our kayaking 4 Star White Water Leader training, the course was led by George Fell. The first day focused on personal paddling skills and took place on the River Tay. The venue for the second day was the River Tummel and the focus was on group management and leadership skills. George was a fantastic instructor and passed on a huge amount of knowledge in the course of the weekend.
£200 Talented Individual Grant

Isabella McQuaker-Kajiwara commented on the benefit from the £200 grant from the Sports Council. "I would like to thank Aberdeenshire Sports Council for all of their support through this grant, which has enabled me to travel to the Scottish Tetrathlon Championships. This was also my debut pentathlon for the Under 19 age category, so it was great competition experience and I managed to place 2nd overall. Following my success at this competition, I am planning to keep training and racing hard throughout the season. My main two competitions coming up will be the Scottish Secondary Schools Fencing Championships on November 27th, and the British Modern Pentathlon Championships in July, where I hope to medal."
Talented Individual Grant for Isabella

Isabella McQuaker -Kajiwara received a £200 Talented Individual Grant and has had success in the November Scottish Championships Scottish Modern Tetrathlon U19 Girls Championships Sunday 20th November 2016 Overall Individual 2nd Place - Fencing: 1st place - Swimming: 2nd Place - Combined Event: 2nd Place
Committee to Meet 23rd January 2017
